Horses Seeking Adoption

At Ray of Light Farm we have a special place in our hearts for horses. That’s why we provide temporary homes to as many orphaned equines as we can take in. Whether they come from Premarin production facilities or from our own community, we provide horses in need of homes with the best possible care as we search to place them into loving forever homes.

We receive support for our animals at many different levels. Here's how you can help:

Contribute: We accept with gratitude small contributions that can be used toward the horses' care, either for a specific purpose or toward a general fund. Click here to make a contribution.

Sponsor: The next level of commitment to help a particular animal is through a sponsorship, or a monthly commitment to help offset the horse's living expenses while at Ray of Light. Click here to become a sponsor.

Foster: If you are able to temporarily provide a good home for an animal, you may offer to foster it. Please contact us to discuss the options.

Adopt: Those who fall in love with a special horse and can promise to take care of it permanently may be eligible to adopt the horse. If you are interested in adopting, please call us to arrange a visit with the horses*.

The images on this page show some of the horses currently residing at Ray of Light and available for adoption.

Newsboy:

Newsboy is one of the biggest charmers on the farm! Everyone has fallen for this little guy. He is smart, sweet and kind and he absolutely adores people. In fact, he would much rather be with people than horses. Loves to be groomed, leads, cross ties, picks up feet, bathes. Personality plus!

...And the Premarin babies of 2011

Aria:

This filly comes out a little stand-offish at first but once you get close enough, she's actually a very curious little girl. Not too many things seem to phase her. She is an old soul. Leads great, picks up feet well.

Mystic:

Very social and intelligent. Quick learner. Loves to do things with people. Brave, leader of the foal herd. First time she had her feet trimmed, she stood perfectly quiet for the farrier. Cross-ties, leads and picks her feet up without a problem. Mystic loves to be groomed and doted on!

Teagan:

Much more timid than the other foals, but he is VERY sweet, sensitive and gentle. Probably would make a nice jumper. Working on picking up feet, leads very well. Teagan would prefer a quiet person. Once he learns how to trust people, this guy will be Mr. Personality and will go on to do all kinds of things!

Charm:

Very social, would like to be in your pocket at all times, loves to just hang out. Very laid back and a friendly filly. Cross-ties, working on picking up feet, leads excellent.

* If you are considering adoption, but unsure if the horse is a good fit, or if you would like to increase your skills for caring for horses, we recommend joining our Basics-In-Training (BIT) program. You will be given the opportunity to gain working experience with the horse while honing important handling/training skills.
