Schooling Shows
 

We offer several open schooling shows throughout the year.  Contact the farm for the next scheduled event, class information and schedule.  This event is open to all skill levels and abilities.

Programs for Kids
 

Our children's programs are designed to allow kids the opportunity to interact directly and connect with the animals.  Tiny trotters will have fun feeding guinea pigs and goats while older summer camp kids will spend their days painting ponies, enjoy daily riding lessons, farm games and more!

Programs for Adults
 

Filly night is designed for adults either beginning riding or returning to the sport. It includes grooming, tacking and riding in a group.   A pot-luck dinner follows. (Bring a dish to share) Please call ahead to register 860-873-1895  or emailinfo@rayoflightfarm.org as these classes are very popular and tend to fill up quickly. Please note there is a maximum weight limit of 200 lbs. See our calendar  for session dates.

Horse Feathers
Veterans Program
 

Horse Feathers is an equine therapy program for veterans and first responders who have experienced post traumatic stress.  This program enables the veteran to connect with a horse on a level that promotes healing and self awareness.  Horse Feathers teaches horse care and handling, as well as cart and wagon driving.  More info

Animal Assisted Therapy
 

Available training for all abilities includes Competition, Drill Team, Grooming & Tacking, Ground Work & Vocational Training

 

PATH certified Animal Assisted Therapy is available for At Risk Youth, Autism, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, PTSD, Speech Impairment and more, please call for more information.  Non-Equine therapy is also available.

Birthday Parties
 

We offer birthday parties on Saturdays from 11-1pm and 2:30-4:30.

Price includes room rental for 2 hours, solid color table cloths, face painting, farm tour and pony rides for each child.

Up to 10 children......................... $225.00

11-15 children............................. $275.00

Over 15 children ......................... $275 + $8 per each additional child over 15

MAX 24 CHILDREN

Field Trips and Larger Groups
 

This includes a farm tour, petting and feeding the guinea pigs, a craft, and your choice of pony rides or a wagon ride. A snack can be provided.

Groups of 15 or more............... $12.50 each

Groups of 6-14..........................$15.00 each

Directions

DIRECTIONS

 

Ray of Light Farm is located at 232 Town Street (Rt 82) in East Haddam.  We are down the street from Gillette Castle.

 

If you are coming from the west side of the Connecticut River, you may choose to cross using the Hadlyme Ferry ($6) or cross using the Goodspeed swing bridge.  Both are beautiful attractions year round!  

 

From Hartford: CT-2 East to Exit 16 for CT-149, Westchester/Moodus.  Right onto Westchester Rd/CT-149.  Slight left onto Falls Bashan Road.  Right onto E Haddam Colchester Turnpike.  Left onto Private First Class Peter P. Golec Memorial Highway/CT-151, which becomes Town Street/CT-82.  Ray of Light Farm is on the left.

 

From New Haven:  Take I-95 North to Exit 69  for Route 9 North toward Essex/Hartford.  Merge onto CT-82 via exit 7 toward E Haddam/Colchester.  Follow CT-82 as it turns.  232 Town Street is on the left just past River Road.

 

From Boston: Take I-90 to I-395 S toward Norwich.  Take Exit 80 onto CT-82, Norwich/Salem, and continue through a roundabout.  Turn right onto Town Street/CT-82, and Ray of Light Farm is on the right.

Policies & Guidelines

Pets

Because of the sensitive nature of some of our animals, we do not allow pets on the farm.

 

Service animals are welcome.  As with all guests, please check in at the front desk.

 

Interacting with the Animals

While the animals you will meet are very friendly, please use caution especially with children and little fingers that may be mistaken for food.  

 

Please do not feed anything to any of the animals.   

 

Please use "inside" voices for the comfort of the animals and other visitors.
