Monthly Update on Our Journey with Tina and Larry

Tina and Larry have been here for just over a month and are settling in nicely.  It is quite the journey for us to work with a blind horse and we learn new things every day.  For example, Larry is finally learning the dimensions of his stall and no longer walks into the far wall when he comes in at night.  We put a bell on Tina’s halter so that Larry knows where she is at all times.  Of course, at night we give her a break so that Larry lets her sleep!  Just the other day, we found Tina lying down in the paddock, taking a nap.  Horses will only nap if they feel safe and “at home”.  We were thrilled!  We have been fitting Tina with her bridle and harness and she seems to enjoy getting back to doing the work she knows so well.  They both have new donated sheets and blankets and, although they are from upstate New York and are acclimated to the cold, we want them to be as cozy as possible for the forthcoming single digit temps next week.

We are honored to be able to work with Tina and Larry and are learning so much about how able our beloved disabled Larry can be.
