Keep The Light Shining!
#GIVINGTUESDAY
#KeepTheLightShining
Ray of Light Farm has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Occurring this year on December 1, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving alongside the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Every year Ray of Light Farm takes in more animals in need providing shelter, food and medical care. Some like the "Z Family" originate from an emergency phone call.
Zarrah was aproximately a 7 year old pregnant mare. Zip was somewhere around 14 years of age and still a stallion. The pair arrived here at the farm after a 6 hour ride from Pennsylvania. They were rescued off a feed lot. Our veterinarian was here the next morning to examine both horses. They both had thick, yellow discharge running out of their nostrils and had to be tested for contagious diseases. Zarrah was quite thin and many months pregnant, but we had no way of telling how far along she really was. Against the odds, this family is now healthy and happily living onthe farm.
On June 8, baby Zoomer was born and healthy as well! The Z family is only one example of the many animals rescued by the farm including over 120 horses and donkeys and countless other animals.
In addition to animal rescue, the farm provides animal asisted therapy to individuals such as At Risk Youth, those suffering from Autism, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, PTSD, Speech Impairment and more.
Thanks to our many volunteers and commited staff, the farm also remains free and open to the public so all children and adults have a place to connect with the animals and learn.
None of this is possible without you. The farm is run on the generosity of our friends and neighbors. Won't you please consider Ray of Light Farm this #GIVINGTUESDAY?
